10,000 Hours

For the past week or so I’ve been thinking more about writing (for anyone that’s read this blog with any consistency you’ll be like “what’s new…you said that before but didn’t follow thru!”).  I think it was this post by John Saddington that planted the seed.  And then on my way into work I happened to be listening to Ten Thousand Hours by Ryan Lewis and Macklemore.  It’s basically talking about putting in 10,000 hours before you become a ‘professional’ or something like that.  Kind of like paying your dues if will.

Every since I was in grade school I’ve wanted to be a writer. So both of these things have nudged me back into the writing frame of mind.  I’ve never ever been that consistent about that. At least lately.  I’m still not sure where I’ll find the time to do it, but I’m hoping that I can get back into it.  Fiction, non-fiction, random bantering, I don’t know what it will be.  Not sure I’ll post it here.  Perhaps I will. We’ll see.

What do you do to make sure that you stay motivated for something that shows little to no rewards?
