Fatherhood and Fitness Check #2

It’s been a few weeks since I last posted about my fitness/lose weight so I thought I’d just post up some random thoughts.

It sucks.  And that’s putting it nicely.  The running is coming along nicely.  I’m up to the point of being able to run 3 miles 3 times a week.  Tomorrow (Saturday) I will be doing my first 5K run.  That’s the main reason why my mileage has increased. I suspect I’ll be somewhere around 33 minutes (my best time is 23 minutes).  While 33 minutes sounds disappointing, at least it does to me, it will put something on the board that I can shoot for.

Having said all of that I have actually gained weight. At least according to the scale this morning. Weighed in at 237.6 this morning (last time was 234.4).  So I’m a bit discouraged on that front.  I do however feel great and some clothes fit a lot better, but I know running at 220, my short term goal, would be better than where I’m at currently.  So it’s time to really start watching what I eat and all that good stuff.  I have a hell of a time doing that, but if I want to get down that’s what I need to do.  The burger and fries I had for lunch will not do that I’m pretty sure (I’ll probably weigh in tomorrow to see how it looks before the run/race/shuffle!)
