This is an election year in case you didn’t know or were hiding in your bunker because you through zombies were coming. And as much as I try and avoid politics I have something to say about the day and age that we live in.
I know it might seem that our vote doesn’t really count, but it does. We live in a day and age where we have a voice that can be heard around the world and we need to start using it and letting our politicians know we are not afraid to use it. I know it seems like big money can ‘buy’ elections and they do. But we the people still vote and get them elected. There is no ‘electoral college’ that puts a senator or a house representative into office. Our votes are what count and put them into the offices that they hold.
Here’s the flip side to this. Partially due to social media, we have a very short term memory and as long as the waves aren’t flooding the boat, we’re a okay with what’s going on with our government. I think that had elections been held last October/November when the government was doing their shutdown people would have voted those parties out off office. However we are 7 or 8 months down the road and most people have forgotten this so those officials that made the shutdown happen…well their big pockets will get them elected again (I should say their lobbyists will get them elected).
So in this election year make your voice heard. If you don’t think your elected official is doing what they should be doing….let them know. E-mail them, hit them up on social media, do whatever it takes to make your voice heard.
